Swapped the stock pistol grip on my Odyssey for a jumbo (the SuperStroke 3.0 type, feels like holding a rolled up sock) about three weeks ago. Short putts inside 6ft have honestly never been more automatic. The thing doesn't twist at all, I stopped steering with my hands, and I made 9 of 10 from 5ft in a ladder drill the other night, which basically never happens for me.
But my lag putting fell off a cliff. Anything over 30ft and I've got zero feedback. The face feels dead, I can't tell where the head is at the top of the backstroke, and I'm either dying them 6ft short or blasting them 8ft by. Three-putted twice from 35+ on Saturday. That's my whole scoring problem right now.
I think it's the weight as much as the size. The grip's heavy enough that it backweights the head and I've lost the feel I had with the skinny grip.
Anyone else go jumbo and actually stick with it? Or did you end up back at midsize? Wondering if there's a sweet spot I skipped over. My old grip was a standard pistol and lag putting was never the issue, it was the 3 footers that killed me, so I'm kind of stuck between two problems right now haha.
