the standard caddie cut is robbery and nobody says it

Was talking to a buddy who loops on the mini tours and it got me thinking about the standard 5/7/10 split (5% for a made cut, 7% for a top 10, 10% for a win). So a caddie carries the bag, reads every putt, talks the player off the ledge on 17, keeps him from firing his swing coach mid-round, and his reward for a win is 10%. Meanwhile the player pockets $1.6M for a signature event and the looper walks with $160k. Before taxes. While paying his own travel, his own health insurance, his own everything.

I get the counterargument. The player takes all the financial risk, the caddie gets a weekly check either way (usually a couple grand base on top of the cut). That's real. But the purses have gone up like 5x since the Tiger era and the percentage hasn't moved a single point. Feels stuck in 1995.

And the flat fee guys? The ones making $1,500-$2,000 a week and nothing else? Those dudes are getting absolutely fleeced, especially the ones working for guys who never sniff a top 10.

Maybe I'm off base. Curious what the top loopers actually pull these days, cause I keep hearing it's still 10 flat plus the base and that just seems low for a guy who's basically a co-pilot for 30 weeks a year. Anyone here actually know the real numbers for a Scheffler or a Rory bag?
