So I've been following the TGL rollout and I honestly can't decide if this is genius or a disaster waiting to happen. The whole concept of team golf in a stadium with a giant screen and shot tracking sounds cool in theory, but every time I watch a promo I get this weird feeling like I'm watching a Topgolf commercial. And the teams? I mean, 'Los Angeles Golf Club' and 'New York Golf Club'? That's the best they could come up with? Feels like they hired the same branding team as the XFL.

I get that Tiger and Rory are behind it and that gives it instant credibility. But who exactly is the audience here? Hardcore golf fans are already watching DP World Tour at 3am. Casual fans aren't going to tune in for a two-hour indoor match on a Tuesday night. And the players? Are they actually going to take it seriously when there's no prize money on the line compared to a real event? I heard they're doing a $1 million purse per match or something, which sounds like a lot until you realize it's basically a pro-am payout.

Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe it'll be a fun, low-stakes alternative during the offseason. But right now it feels like a solution in search of a problem. Anyone else have thoughts? Or am I just being a grumpy old man?
