So I grabbed some masking tape and stuck a strip on my 8 iron before my range session yesterday. Hit about 15 balls and 11 of them were dead on the heel. Not slightly. Like the mark was hanging off the edge. No wonder my irons felt harsh and I kept losing 10 yards!
I always assumed I was flipping or casting or whatever. Nope, my strike location was just garbage. Moved my weight a touch more into my toes at setup and the marks moved toward the center almost immediately. Not perfect, but I hit 5 in a row out of the middle and it felt like a different club.
Anyone else use tape or foot spray to check where you're actually hitting it? I feel like we obsess over path and face and ignore strike location way too much. Also what's your go-to cheap foot spray? The Dr. Scholl's one I grabbed smells like a hospital.
