Had our monthly net event Saturday and the winner posted a net 59 off a 22 index. Guys in the group behind him said he didn't miss a shot all day, striping drives 260 and hitting greens. Third net event in a row he's been in the money. Two weeks ago in the gross flight he shot 94. Make it make sense.
So now the handicap chair is finally looking into it. Our league uses the last 5 scores for index, which honestly makes sandbagging way too easy. You just post a couple of blowups before the event and your number balloons. I know it's a hobby league and nobody's playing for a Tour card, but at some point it's just stealing from the field. $40 entry, $600 to the winner, that adds up over a season.
Been on both sides of this. Years back I was the guy who'd throw in a 96 after a rough day and cash the next week. Not proud of it. But the system almost encourages it when you only count 5 rounds.
Commissioner review is what a lot of leagues do now but nobody wants to be the guy filing the complaint. Our chair floated a "must post 8 rounds in season" rule, plus a hard cap at 18 for net prizes. That cap alone would've stopped this guy dead.
Curious what your leagues actually do. Rolling 12? Automatic gross for repeat net winners? Do you just live with it because everyone kind of does it?
