Nashville golf trip for a bachelor party - doable or disaster?

So my buddy's getting married in late April and he wants a golf weekend instead of the usual strip club nonsense. 8 guys, and I want to be clear, maybe 3 of us can actually play. The rest are guys who own clubs and hit the range twice a year.

I've been looking at Gaylord Springs and Hermitage (President's Reserve). Both look solid online but I'm worried we're gonna get paired with some members who want to murder us by hole 4. Anyone played either with a group of hacks? Do they let you go out as a full 8 or are we splitting into two foursomes?

Also, is there anything closer to downtown? We're staying near Broadway and I don't want to spend the whole trip in an Uber to the suburbs. I heard Greystone is nice but that's like 30 min out.

And yeah I know April in Tennessee means rain. We've got a backup day built in. Just don't want to book $200 rounds and have half the group quit after 9 because they're hungover from the night before.

Half of me thinks this is a genius idea. Other half thinks we should just do a scramble at a cheap muni and get to the bars by 2. Anyone done the bachelor golf thing and lived to tell about it?
