Music on the course: fight me, but it speeds up play

So I played last weekend with a couple of guys who had a speaker in their cart. Not blasting, just some classic rock at a reasonable volume. And you know what? We finished in 3.5 hours on a Saturday morning. Meanwhile the group ahead of us, no music, all walking, took forever because they were chatting and not ready to hit.

I get it, golf is a quiet game. Tradition, respect, blah blah. But here's the thing: music doesn't have to be loud. If you can hear it from the next fairway, that's a problem. But if it's just background noise for your group, who cares? It keeps people loose, it fills the awkward silence, and honestly it might even help with pace because people aren't standing around overthinking their shot.

And let's be real, the same guys complaining about music are the ones taking 5 practice swings and plumb-bobbing a 3-footer for triple bogey. Maybe focus on your own game.

Anyway, I'm not saying blast death metal at 7am. But a little music? It's fine. Change my mind.
