Kapalua Plantation first time - wind ate my scorecard alive

Played the Plantation course in Maui last week on a family trip. Wife said it was a once in a lifetime thing so I rented clubs and went for it. Shot 103. The rental clubs were garbage but honestly that's not why I shot 103.

The wind. Nobody warned me about the wind. First tee box I hit what felt like a perfect drive and it went maybe 190 yards into a crosswind. Then on the back nine the trade winds picked up and I'm standing over a 7 iron on a par 3 that plays like a 4 iron, then the next hole it's downhill and downwind and my 8 iron goes 175. Total mind games.

The 18th is unreal though. Downhill par 5 with the whole ocean in front of you. I made par there somehow, best hole of my life probably. Greens were way faster than anything I play at home too, three putted like five times.

Question for people who've played it more than once, is there a wind forecast I should be checking before booking? Or do you just accept your fate? I want to go back but I also want to not feel like I got beat up for four hours.
