is it just me or is everyone chasing super light shafts now?

I've been around the course long enough to have seen a few trends come and go, and I gotta ask what everyone else's take is on the current shaft craze. I saw a few guys swinging with shafts under 90g last week, and man, I felt like they were throwing a frisbee instead of hitting a driver.

I’m a big believer in the classic, heavier, high-MOI shafts—the stuff that feels planted. My current setup uses a slightly stiffer, heavier shaft, and honestly, that stability is what gives me confidence when I'm trying to dial in my dispersion. When things get choppy, or when the course is really windy, those ultra-light, super-flexible shafts just feel too easy to miscontrol. You lose that sense of 'commitment' on the swing.

Of course, I get the argument for lower swing weights and more head speed. If you’re a beginner or just trying to max out distance off the tee, I guess the light shaft is fine. But once you start trying to keep your hooks down and manage the ball flight, that lighter stuff just amplifies everything. It makes subtle timing errors feel like massive swings. Like, I tried one of those modern ultra-light stuff last month just to see what the fuss was about, and it was a disaster. My trajectory felt completely gone, and the feel was just... wrong. Not that wrong, but significantly off from what I expect.

I've found that there's a sweet spot in the mid-heavy range, probably around 85 to 95 grams for my speed, where I get the best blend of responsiveness and stability. Have any of you guys made the jump to something drastically lighter and actually felt the difference in terms of control, not just distance? I'm curious if I'm just stuck in my own comfort zone or if I need to start embracing the lightest options available.
