So I've been thinking about this after reading yet another "demoed X irons, feel unreal" thread. And before anyone jumps down my throat, I'm not saying fitting is useless. I'm saying for most mid to high handicaps, it's basically a $200+ placebo.
Here's my logic. If your swing changes week to week, what's the point of dialing in lie angles and shaft profiles to a swing that won't exist in a month? I've seen guys get fit into some exotic shaft, then take six lessons and suddenly that shaft is wrong. Now they're out another $400.
I got fit for my driver two years ago. Was it helpful? Kinda. But the difference between my fitted setup and the off-the-rack one I was using? Maybe 8 yards of carry and slightly tighter dispersion. Not nothing, but not the game changer the fitter promised.
Meanwhile my buddy spent that same money on five lessons and dropped 4 strokes. Just saying.
And don't get me started on the Titleist GT2 vs GT3 threads. People agonizing over two heads that are 99% the same for their swing speed. Pick one, go play.

But hey, maybe I'm wrong. Anyone here actually get fit and see a massive difference? Or is it just me?
