Pulled the old sticks out of the garage last month after basically a decade off (kids, job, the usual). Still rocking my old R7 driver and a set of Ping G5 irons.
Hit the range and honestly struck it ok but everything looks different now. Guy next to me had a 7 wood and a hybrid he was hitting like 200 yards. My 3 iron suddenly feels like a butter knife.
Is new gear actually that much better or is it mostly marketing? My 7 iron says 34 degrees and the new ones say like 28?? That can't be right lol.
If you were me where would you start. Driver first or irons. Not trying to drop 2 grand on a whim here.
