So I finally pulled the trigger on a used Ping G425 5-wood last week. Got it for $120 on FB marketplace. I've been struggling with my 3-iron off the deck, and a buddy said just try a 5-wood. Man, why didn't I do this sooner? It's like cheating. High launch, lands soft, and I actually hit greens from 200 out. My 3-iron is now collecting dust in the garage.
But now I'm wondering, is the 5-wood becoming a lost club? Seems like everyone's going 7-wood or hybrid these days. Anyone else still carry one? What loft are you playing? Mine's 18 degrees and it gaps perfectly between my 3-wood and 4-iron.
